We spent last week in Naples, and I will getting together a blog about Napoli, but first I wanted to share these pics mostly for my grandkids who are all soccer players. Napoli is the 2023 Champs in soccer for the third time. However, it has been 33 years since they last won a championship. When we arrived in Naples, we saw blue and white streamers across all the streets and poles. At that time we did not know they had won the championship, but soon learned and enjoyed seeing many items celebrating their championship. I am sharing some of the unique things we saw.
There were many flags around town, a lot of the were hanging on balconies from apartments. A lot of them said, Forza Napoli, which means force or power for Naples. However, I learned that in Italian it mean more like the ability to face the difficulties in life and be strong, you can do it. Buitoni was a favorite player. I forgot to get any pictures of the flags, but I got a couple off the internet that we repeatedly saw.
This was taken at the game. I have heard that there are lots of excited fans at the games.
There were a kit of paintings on walls of the soccer players.
Pictures of the championship squad were in cafes and restaurants and all around the town.
On the streets and in stores and cafes there were full cutouts of the players.
Little figurines of all the players were for sell in stores and from venders on the street.
Even electric soccer players.
Clothing stores dressed their mannequins in soccer (they call it football) shirts. This was at a bridal shop
I thought you might enjoy seeing how the fans in Naples celebrated the championship of their football team. I am thinking I will have to keep up on their games next year.
Bravo!
